Local Man's Death Due to Natural Causes

A local man has died.

Effingham City Police and Rural Med EMS responded at 8:20pm Tuesday to 1011 South Cherry Street in Effingham regarding an unresponsive person. The man was identified as 65-year-old Robert Pendergast of Effingham. He was pronounced dead at 8:53pm by the Coroner's Office.

Pendergast was transported by the Coroner's Office to HSHS St. Anthony's Morgue, pending arrangements. 

Preliminary investigation indicated Pendergast's death was due to natural causes.
