(DEPUTY ANDREW MUDGETTE'S SQUAD CAR AFTER MONDAY NIGHT'S CRASH)
Injuries resulted when a vehicle collided with an Effingham County Sheriff's Office vehicle Monday night.
The crash happened on US Route 40 near Funkhouser Road about 9:23pm. Effingham County Sheriff Paul Kuhns said the deputy involved in the crash is Andrew Mudgette. Kuhns said the 27-year-old Mudgette was struck from behind as he was traveling east on Route 40. Both Deputy Mudgette and the other driver were taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.
The report from Illinois State Police indicates that a pickup truck driven by 24-year-old Richard Tinker of St. Peter was traveling behind Mudgette's squad car. The report states that Tinker failed to reduce speed and struck the rear of the squad car.
Tinker was cited for Aggravated DUI, DUI, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, and Following Too Closely.
