Francis A. “Bud” Schackmann, age 84, of Wendelin, Illinois, passed away at 8:06 PM Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, Illinois.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 5:00 PM Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin, Illinois, with Fr. Mark Stec celebrating mass. Visitation will be held from 2:30 - 4:30 PM Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. In loving memory of Bud, memorials may be made to the Holy Cross Church Bell Tower fund. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Francis Augustine “Bud” Schackmann was born on August 28, 1936, in Ingraham, Illinois, the son of Lorene (Schackmann) Primmer. Bud served his country in the United States Army from 1959, until his honorable discharge in 1962. He married Louann Petitjean on November 9, 1963, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin, Illinois. She preceded him in death on July 20, 1975. Bud was a lifelong farmer. He was a proud member of the Olney Memorial VFW Post #4226, Olney American Legion Post #30, Knights of Columbus #1704 in Newton, Illinois. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s activities.
Francis is survived by Children - Kevin Schackmann of Dunn, North Carolina and Lisa (Mike) Huston of Newton, Illinois Grandchildren – Jordyn Huston, Lucas (Mallory) Huston, Quentin Huston and Logan Huston.
Francis was preceded in death by his mother and wife.
