Harold Edward "Ed" Minor (62) of Effingham

Harold Edward “Ed” Minor, 62, of Effingham, IL, passed away of heart failure on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL, with his family by his side.

Ed was born on November 30, 1958, in Shelbyville, IL, the youngest son of Harold and Lois (Bartley) Minor. Ed married Sue Ann (Rentfrow) on August 8, 1981 in Windsor, IL, and they shared 40 years of marriage. He graduated from Windsor High School in Windsor, IL, and then continued his education at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston graduating with a degree in physics in 1980. He retired in 2013 after working 33 years in the electric utility industry, first at Newton Power Plant and then Coffeen Power Plant. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham where he participated in several Mission Trips over the years to Henderson Settlement in Frakes, KY. He enjoyed fishing, camping, going to the shooting range, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Ann of Effingham; sons, Brian (Jessica) Minor of Lowell, IN; Craig (Marielle) Minor of Effingham, IL; Derek (Emily) Minor of Peoria, IL; and Jared (Nikki) Minor of Champaign, IL; two grandchildren, Jill and Elliot and another granddaughter Vivienne due anytime; brothers, Richard (Kinoe) Minor of Sacramento, CA and Kerry (Cathy) Minor of Mattoon, IL; and two brothers-in-law, Tom Rentfrow of Effingham and David (Susan) Rentfrow of Santa Fe, NM.

Ed’s parents preceded him in death.

As per Ed’s wishes, he donated through Gift of Hope and his body was cremated.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 203 E. Grove Avenue, Effingham, IL. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery in Windsor, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the church. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family.
