Gerald L. “Gerry” Hoene, 80, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at his home in Teutopolis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the church. Memorial donations may be given to Meals on Wheels. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Teutopolis.
Gerry was born May 20, 1941 in Teutopolis, son of the late Aloysius and Florentine M. (Kenter) Hoene. He married Nancy Bohnhoff on February 13, 1965. Gerry worked for Al’s Tire Mart in Effingham for over 30 years and later for Stevens Industries in Teutopolis. He served with the United States Navy, was a member of St. Francis Church in Teutopolis, Teutopolis American Legion Post #924 and was a fourth degree member of the Teutopolis Knights of Columbus Council #2874.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Nancy of Teutopolis; children, Cindy (Tim) Grunloh of Teutopolis, Sandy (John) Gallaher of Quincy and Kevin (Sara) Hoene of Effingham; grandchildren, Chris Grunloh, Debbie O’Connell, Amanda Gallaher, Jennifer Holman, Nick Grunloh, Robert Gallaher, Cole Hoene, Jared Hoene and Madison Hoene; great-grandchildren, Joel Holman, Lily Holman, Nora O’Connell, Leah Holman and Annie O’Connell; siblings, Tom Hoene of Decatur, Leroy “Pete” (Judy) Hoene of Mt. Zion, Robert (Jeannie) Hoene of Neoga, Betty (Lou) Krapf of Farmington, MO, Joyce (Dave) Burrell of Teutopolis, Judy (Dennis) Reich of Arnold, MO and Connie (Jim) Delahunty of Mt. Zion.
