Aven L. Snyder Jr., 62, of Effingham, Illinois, passed away at 10:49 a.m. Saturday November 20, 2021 at his home with family by his side.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 24 at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham with military rites. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Aven was born July 21, 1959, in Effingham, the son of Aven and Katherine Snyder Sr. He married Linda Snyder December 28, 1987, his best friend and partner in crime. Together they have nine children and many grandchildren. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals and spending his time spoiling his grandchildren. He loved working out in yard with his wife. He always loved when he went to his doctor, and they had a great time discussing the Cardinals and Cubs.

Aven served in the United States Army from 1979-1985. He was an E5 and stationed in Korea. He was Honorably Discharged in 1985 from the United States Army. Aven enjoyed playing bingo, playing poker, and spending time with his family. After serving in the military, Aven worked at World Color Press for 18 years. Aven enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, they meant the world to him. Anything his grandkids wanted, he made sure they got it. He will be dearly missed, but never forgotten, thanks to our Heavenly Father who sacrificed his life so we could see and be with Him forever one day.

Aven is survived by his wife, Linda Snyder of Effingham; children, Jamie Colwell (Lucas) of Lake Sara, Josh Colwell (Kendra) of Effingham, Aven Snyder III, Anthony Snyder (Rayann) of Alma, Jeff Colwell Jr. (Oran) of Effingham, Misty Snyder (Todd) of Effingham, Alisha Cornell (Joey) of Effingham, Kristina Schwabe (Tyler) of Watson, and Michael Snyder (Jess) of Peoria; grandchildren, Kaitlin, Kennedy, Ashleah, Josh Jr, Jasmine, Serenity, Andy, Dom, Serenity, Harley, Scotty, Morgan, Asher, Katherine, Karsyn, Zachary, Sierra, Madison, Eva, Joey, Weston, Zoey, Kenzie, and Teghan; and siblings, Charlene Snyder of Louisville, Kathy Koester (Dale) of Effingham, and James Snyder (Carol) of Montrose.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aven and Katherine Snyder Sr.; and his great-grandparents.
