
Nelda K. Manhart (73) of Effingham

Nelda K. Manhart, 73, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at home with family by her side after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Services will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with burial services at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, directly following.

Nelda was born on January 26, 1948, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Ed and Esther (Long) Stumborg. She married her soulmate, best friend, and caregiver, Larry Manhart, on September 9, 1995.
Nelda was a simple, yet strong woman with a big heart. She loved her family deeply and cherished spending time with them. She owned and operated an in-home daycare for over fifty years, where she greatly impacted the lives of over three hundred children. Nelda enjoyed keeping a clean and organized home, shopping, and for many years was an avid walker with her husband and friends.
Nelda is survived by her husband, Larry Manhart of Effingham; daughters, Kim (Ken) Huss of Effingham and Michelle (Rob) Mihlbachler of Effingham; grandchildren, Ardyn (David) Greathouse and Ethan Huss; great-grandchildren, Rylan and Lucie Greathouse; and siblings, Jim (Sandy) Stumborg, Don Stumborg, and Steve (Carol) Stumborg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jack Stumborg; a sister, Joyce Purdy and beloved dog Sadie.
