Diane C. (Case) Slone, 80, of Effingham, IL, passed away at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at the Villas of Holly Brook in Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery, rural Effingham, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Diane was born on February 23, 1941 in Highland, IL, the daughter of Charles “Buster” and Lynette (Pritchett) Case. She married Louis C. Hankins on June 12, 1960 and they had 3 children: Mike, Lisa and Charley. Diane married Deane Alan Slone on August 17, 1979, and he preceded her in death on July 1, 2007.
Diane was a gentle soul that loved yellow roses, butterflies, blowing bubbles, and spending time with her family.
Diane is survived by her son, Mike (Darla) Hankins of Shumway, daughter, Lisa Diane Hankins of Effingham and son Charley Hankins of Effingham; grandchildren, Jodi (Jared) Sphar, Jacob (Marissa) Hankins and Justin (Brittni) Hankins all of Altamont; great-grandchildren, Emma Jo and Will Sphar, Lilly, Bristin, Beau, and Elijah Hankins; brother, John Case of Georgia; and step-son, Donald (Pamela) Slone of Mason.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Beulah Case; husband, Deane; and sisters, Jean Hinkel and Mary Heuerman.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Dy for the twenty-three years of care he gave mom and also Diann Louderback for being there in her final days. Also much love and thanks to the staff at the Villas of Holly Brook.
