Joan Brown age 89, of Newton passed away Sunday, March 6, 2006 at her home.

Funeral services celebrating Joan’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2022 at the Free Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Linder officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 10th in the church. Burial will be in the West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Newton, Illinois.

Joan was born on February 13, 1933, in Jasper County, Illinois the daughter of Lloyd Brooks and Helen Nancy (Dufrain) Adkins. Joan married Jack G. Brown on April 27, 1950. They shared fifty-seven years together before his passing on August 3, 2007. Joan was a devoted wife and mother. For many years, Joan was a sales representative for Mary Kay Cosmetics, reaching the level of director. Joan was a faithful member of the Free Methodist Church in Newton. Her faith in God was her first in her life. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. Joan loved sports, especially following Cardinal baseball and Illinois basketball.

She will be loved and remembered by her children Randy (Kathy) Brown of Dundas, Jack L. (Nancy) Brown of Newton and Joyce Bollman of Dundas; grandchildren Sara Brown of Indianapolis, Isaac (Audra) Brown of Olney, Melanie (Jeff) Reis of O’Fallon, IL; Melinda (Brian) Pacheco of San Tan, AZ, Rachel (Ryan) Reynolds of Effingham, Ben Bollman of Newton and Brooks Bollman of Dundas; great grandchildren May Joanna and Hudson Brown; Lena, Lily and Micah Reis; Cora, Calvin, Mia, Ruby Pacheco; Brice and Brielle Reynolds and baby Brown due to arrive in May.

Her parents, husband Jack G. and son-in-law Steve Bollman preceded her in death.

Memorial gifts in honor of Joan may be made to the Free Methodist Church or The Gideons International.
