Larry F. Wattelet, 74, of Effingham, IL, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday March 28, 2022, at Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham with a 7:00 p.m. Order of the Eastern Star service. Larry F. Wattelet was born April 26, 1947, in Taylorville, IL the son of Louis and Rachel (Davis) Wattelet. He was united in holy matrimony to Beth Wise on September 7, 1968 in Effingham, IL. Larry was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham; Effingham Masonic Lodge #149 A.F. & A.M.; 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Valley of Danville; and Effingham Chapter #110 Order of the Eastern Star. He served many times as Worthy Patron of Effingham Chapter #110 O.E.S. He served the O.E.S. of Illinois as Worthy Grand Patron in 2015. Larry was a graduate of Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. He served in the U.S. Army. He retired from a career at World Color Press, Effingham, IL. Larry was the co-owner of Tropical Sno, Effingham, IL. He was also a substitute bus driver for Teutopolis Unit #50. Larry’s hobbies included model railroading, driving his motorcycles and scooters, and cruising in his Corvette. He loved feeding the birds and various wildlife in his backyard. He was always passionate with the various interests and activities of his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Beth Wattelet of Effingham; sons, Kevin (fiancée, Libby Cox) Wattelet of O’Fallon, MO and Scott (Lora) Wattelet of Troy, MO; grandchildren, Kent and Lillian Wattelet, and Trinity and Riley Williams; brother, Paul (Midge) Wattelet of Oak Brook, IL; sister, Annette Jenkins of Carmel, IN; brother-in-law, Craig (Cynthia) Wise of Effingham, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dr. Thomas and Oreta Wise; daughter-in-law, Debra Williams-Wattelet; and brother-in-law, Don Jenkins.
