Funeral services celebrating Paul’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2022, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Mike Knepper officiating. Burial will be in the Bailey Cemetery west of Latona, Illinois, with full military rites by the Sainte Marie American Legion Post #932. Visitation will be held 4-6 p.m. Sunday, March 27 at the funeral home. In loving memory of Paul, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Fund PO Box 333 Newton, Illinois 62448. Paul was born September 17, 1948, in Effingham, the son of Frederick and Leatha (Burgener) Zuber. He married Linda Marshall October 27, 1973, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, He graduated from Newton Community High School in 1966. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from March 4, 1968, until his honorable discharge February 24, 1970. Paul was a lifelong farmer and had worked at United Technologies and GSI for many years. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Sainte Marie and a 50 year member the Sainte Marie American Legion Post #932. Paul enjoyed hunting, collecting antiques and spending time with his family, especially his wife, children and grandchildren.
Paul is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Zuber of Newton; children, Rebecca (David) Stigler of Oblong; Gregory Zuber (fiancé Traci Miller) of Newton; Christina (Jared) Rhodes of Gold Beach, Oregon; Bradley (Lindsay) Zuber of Sainte Marie and Kendall (Jamie) Zuber of St. Charles, Missouri; siblings, Cathy (Dave) Sullens of Gladewater, Texas; Ginny (Rich) Jones of Ore City, Texas; Ruth Lindley of Newton; Mary Pool of Olney; Dave (Terri) Zuber of Newton; John (Debbie) Zuber of Newton and Jim (Carol) Zuber of Newton; 14 grandchildren and11 great-grandchildren and one due next month
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Rose Compton and Joanne Will and father- and mother-in-law Roy and Patsy Marshall.
