Glen Eugene “Gene” Easton, age 94, of the Liberty Hill community, south of Greenup, Illinois, passed away at 7:20 AM - Saturday, November 30, 2024, at his home.
Funeral services celebrating Gene’s life will be held at 12:00 PM (Noon) – Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Meyer Funeral Home – Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois. The burial will be in the Greenup Cemetery, in Greenup, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Glen Eugene “Gene” was born on February 16, 1930, in Cumberland County, Illinois, the son of Glen and Meredith (Light) Easton. He married Carol June Henderson on August 2, 1950, in Cumberland County, Illinois. June preceded him in death on July 7, 2023.
Gene was a lifelong farmer in Liberty Hill community raising grain and Hereford cattle. He was a member of the Mt Zion (Block) Church.
Gene served for more than 50 years on the Cumberland County Fair Board as Superintendent of the 4-H and Junior Show and sheep show. He also served as the Vice President and President of the board. He served as a 4-H club leader for 12 years and served on the Cumberland County Soil and Water Board, Cumberland County Farm Bureau Board, Cumberland County Extension Board, and the Cumberland County School Advisory Council.
Gene and June enjoyed traveling and spending time in Florida. His greatest joy was his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

Children – Judy Rathe of Greenup, Illinois; and Mike Easton of Greenup, Illinois
Grandchildren – Ted (Laura) Rathe of Neoga, Illinois; Juli (Larry) Bishop of Greenup, Illinois; Tasha (Jay) Hollingsworth of Greenup, Illinois; and Travis (Tiffany) Easton of Casey, Illinois
Great Grandchildren – James (Genna) Prather, Theo Rathe, Jerik Bishop, Carter Rathe, Lucas Hollingsworth, Olivia Easton, Reagan Hollingsworth and Corbin Easton
Great-great Grandchildren – Levi Prather, Abigial Prather and August Prather
Sister – Patricia Grissom of Greenup, Illinois
