Effingham Asphalt tallied a 4-1 win over Mid-Illinois Concrete to head to the championship game of the Babe Ruth Prep League Tournament Monday at Evergreen Hollow Park.
Asphalt edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead on Mid-Illinois. Asphalt led 2-1 after four innings then tacked on single runs in the sixth and seventh.
Joe Matteson threw a six-hitter with 11 strikeouts.
Asphalt's big hitters were Matteson with two singles, a double and an RBI and Jeff Volpi with a double.
Tyler Budde led Mid-Illinois with two singles.
Effingham Asphalt will now take on Taylor Law at 6 p.m. Thursday for the championship.
