South Central Season Ends In Sectional

The Cougars fell to Macon Meridian, 60-57. South Central held a 14-11 opening quarter lead as Spencer Johannes scored five and Aidan Dodson added four.
But Macon Meridian took over in the second quarter with a 15-6 run to lead 26-20 at halftime. The Hawks had a 19-14 third quarter to lead 45-34 going into the final period.
From there, the Cougars came swarming back with a 23-15 run. Keenin Willshire knocked in six points while Ethan Watwood and Dodson tallied five each but it wasn't enough as the Cougars fell.
Leading the way for South Central was Willshire with17 points on six field goals, that included one three-pointer, and was four of five at the line. Also in double figures, Dodson scored 14 on five field goals and four of seven at the line while Johannes had 14 on six field goals and two of four at the line.
South Central ended the season with a 26-8 record.
Leading Macon Meridian was Graham Meisenhelter who scored 23 points on eight field goals, five of those three-pointers, and two of three at the line. Mekhi Phillips tallied 13. The Hawks will now face Tuscola at 7 p.m. Friday for the championship.

Class 2A Flora Sectional
Mount Carmel was a winner at the Flora Sectional Wednesday.
The Golden Aces downed Pana, 67-56. Mount Carmel now advances to the championship game against Teutopolis at 7 p.m. Friday.
