DIETERICH – Dieterich Junior High School added to its win total with two victories over Sigel St. Michael in girls basketball action Tuesday evening.

The Roadrunners claimed the seventh-grade game 27-21. Dieterich moved ahead 10-6 but St. Michael pulled within 13-12 at halftime. Dieterich then had an 8-2 third period and went on for the win.

Mya Ohnesorge led the winners in scoring with 12 and had seven rebounds. Emery Bill had eight rebounds. Mackenzie Roedl led in assists with three. Bill, Roedl and Emma Williams had two steals each.

In eighth-grade action, Dieterich tore out to a 6-0 opening quarter lead and led 15-4 at halftime and went on for a 25-17 win.

Melanie Niemerg led in scoring with 13 for the Roadrunners while Lexie Funneman, Claire Faller and Kensi Stortzum had seven rebounds each.

At Effingham

Effingham St. Anthony and Casey-Westfield split victories in Tuesday evening action.

St. Anthony claimed the seventh-grade contest, 26-12. The Bullpups took a 12-6 halftime lead then had a 14-6 second half run.

Bella Schultz tallied 12 points for the winners.

In the eighth-grade game, Casey-Westfield was a 20-14 winner. St. Anthony held a 4-2 opening quarter lead but the score was tied at 7-7 at halftime. Casey-Westfield then had an 8-5 third period to lead 15-12 going into the final quarter and had a 5-2 run.

Carly Budde led the Bullpups with nine points.

At Shelbyville

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City had a big-scoring win over Shelbyville in the seventh-grade contest and then edged the homestanders in eighth-grade play.

The Bobcats ripped out to an 18-2 lead in the seventh-grade game and finished with a 54-8 victory.

Reese Vaughn scored 24 to lead the winners who are now 14-7 on the season.

In eighth-grade action, CHBC and Shelbyville were tied at 22-22 going into the final quarter. The Bobcats had a 5-2 final period run for the 27-24 victory.

Sophie Zumbahlen led the way with eight points for the winners who are now 6-14 on the season.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis downed Altamont in both seventh- and eighth-grade play Tuesday evening.

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade contest 41-5. T-town held a 27-3 halftime lead.

Meyer scored nine and Probst eight for the winners.

Altamont was led by Suckow with three.

In the eighth-grade game, T-town ran out to an 11-0 opening quarter lead and led 25-3 at halftime. The Shoes finished with a 43-7 victory.

S. Deters scored nine and Drees eight for the Shoes.

Altamont was led by Ruholl with four.

At Neoga

North Clay and Neoga split victories Tuesday evening.

Neoga was a winner in the eighth-grade contest, 30-13.

North Clay won the seventh-grade encounter, 29-25.

North Clay is back in action Thursday against Olney St. Joseph at 6 p.m.
