Effingham Sacred Heart and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City split junior high boys basketball wins Monday evening.

Sacred Heart won the seventh-grade contest, 28-21. The Shamrocks trailed CHBC 9-8 at halftime but came through with a 9-0 third quarter run.

Gabe Traub led the winners with 16 points while Ruben Jansen added six.

CHBC was led by Drake Thull with 10.

In eighth-grade action, CHBC ran out to a 16-5 opening quarter lead and went on for a 51-21 victory.

Two players hti double figures for the winners. Kaisyn Calame tallied 18 and Zach Bennett 17.

Sacred Heart was led by Mason Karolewicz with 13.

At Effingham

At Sigel

Sigel St. Michael and Neoga split wins Monday evening.

Neoga picked up a 27-16 victory in the seventh-grade contest. Neoga led 15-10 at halftime then had a 12-6 second half.

Baylor Matusas led the way in scoring with 15 points while Liam Kenworthy added seven for Neoga.

St. Michael was led by B. Walk with 12.

In the eighth-grade game, St. Michael won 52-21. The Sharpshooters ran out to a 14-2 opening quarter lead and had a 16-3 third period run.

Ordner led 10 players with 11 points. Dasenbrock added nine.

Neoga was led by Kenworthy with six points.

At Dieterich

Dieterich and Cumberland each claimed a victory Monday evening.

The seventh-grade victory went to Cumberland 28-15. Cumberland ripped out to a 10-0 opening quarter lead and led 21-5 at halftime. Dieterich came back with a 10-7 second half but it was too little.

Colt Finn and Tyson Miles led the winners with six points each.

Dieterich was led by Niemerg with five.

In eighth-grade play, Dieterich claimed a 46-34 win over Cumberland. Dieterich held a 23-18 halftime lead and led 36-27 going into the final period.

McQueen tallied 19 points to lead the winners while Goeckner added 15.

Cumberland was led by Walker with 13 and Shellenberger with 10.

At Newton

Jasper County claimed the eighth-grade win while Casey-Westfield captued the seventh-grade victory Monday.

Casey-Westfield tallied a 43-25 victory in the seventh-grade game. Casey-Westfield held a 26-15 hafltime lead.

Grant Frichtl scored 12 for Jasper County. Maverik Horner was the top rebounder while Alex Keller was the top defender. Frichtl was the top passer. Jasper County is 3-3 on the season.

In the eighth-grade game, Jasper County trailed 15-14 at halftime then had a 28-15 second half run for a 42-30 win.

Brendan Emmerich led with 23 points while Chase Kistner added nine. Hank Huber was the top rebounder. Emmerich was the top defender. Kistner was the top passer.

Jasper County improved to 4-2.

At Newton

At Altamont

Altamont fell to visiting Greenville in both games Monday evening.

Greenville was a 64-34 winner in seventh-grade action. The score was tied at 26-26 at halftime before Greenville went on a 38-8 second half run.

Altamont was led by Jack Neu with 14 points and Hayden Veteto and Peyton O'Dell with seven points each.

In the eighth-grade contest, Greenville was a 50-23 winner. Altamont edged out to a 5-4 opening quarter lead but Greenville moved ahead 25-15 at halftime.

Altamont was led in scoring by Potts and Neu with nine points each.

Brownstown/St. Elmo captured both victories over North Clay (Louisville) Monday evening.

BSE won the seventh-grade game 50-34. BSE held a 14-2 opening quarter lead and led 23-13 at halftime. North Clay came back with a 14-12 third period to pull within 35-27 but BSE went on a 15-7 final period run.

D. Bogart led the winners with 13 points while L. Schaub added 12.

North Clay was led by Ruholl with 14.

In eighth-grade action, Brownstown/St. Elmo won 56-49. BSE held a 30-29 halftime lead then had a 15-6 third quarter and held off North Clay in the final period.

M. Schaub scored 31 points for the winners on 13 field goals, four from three-point range, and one of two at the line.

North Clay was led by Lewis with19 and Frost with 13.
