Effingham High School played host to Taylorville and blanked the Tornadoes 3-0 in soccer competition Thursday.
Ashton Haythorne scored first for EHS on an assist from Collin Hecht at the 7:52 mark in the first half. Also in the first half, Brady Jackson connected on an assist from Andrew Bingham with 6:35 left.
EHS came back out in the second half and Haythrone put his second goal in the net, this time on an assist from Jackson with 9:56 left in the game.
Effingham's Jared Minor had 11 saves as the Hearts improve to 5-8-5 overall and are 2-4-3 in the Apollo Conference.
The Hearts' junior varsity squad won for the first time this season by edging Taylorville 1-0. The lone goal was by Cooper Jackson.
